I've been a runner for most of my life.

Although I started running early on in life, I consider the real beginning to my running journey to be when I was running at Virginia Tech. (2011-2016)
I was coached by Ben Thomas for all 5 years and this is where I became a true student of the sport.

I had successful runners all around me, and I spent my time learning what their routines and secrets to success were. I learned that success in running comes from focusing on recovery, confidence in yourself and learning your own body.

By the end of my time at Virginia Tech, I had gone on to win 7 ACC Individual Titles across Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track. I also earned 6 NCAA First-Team All-American Honors.

Running Professionally

After success in the D1 NCAA system, I was able to sign a professional contract with Saucony, as par of the Saucony Freedom Track Club.

Our team was coached directly by Olympian Tim Broe (2004 Athens Olympics, 5000m, 11th place).

From Coach Broe, I continued having success and growth within running, but I'd consider this the era where I learned the most about coaching. Particularly, I found what was most important to me in a coach was the human element.

Coach Broe taught me grit, determination and confidence, but with a kind delivery, instead of a rigid and uncompromising delivery.

Coaching

I've been a consistent and reliable resource for my own teammates throughout the years. I feel passionate about helping those around me to reach their running goals.

The past 2 years I've been dipping my toes into the coaching world as an Assistant Coach at a local high-school. I've had a blast imparting my knowledge and experience on the kids, and then watching them succeed.

I'd love to move towards coaching adults of all experience levels. I want to provide guidance for newer runners to help them get started effectively and safely, up to experienced marathoners, who are looking to make their BQ's!
